Ludhiana, February 28, 2021 (News Team): Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi being run by Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council (GKEC),organized a one day international webinar on ‘Developing Business Skills for a Borderless World’.
More than two hundred participants including students, professionals, academicians and researchers across the globe joined the session onDeveloping Business Skills that is the need of the hour for global business creating the difference between survival and true success among employers.
Prof. Manjit Singh Chhabra, director, GGNIMT, in his inaugural speech said that in today’s competitive environment, landscape stretches to a global horizon, we as managers and leaders wish to see best what we know best.“The skills needed to navigate this new, globalized business landscape are not the “hard skills” of production planning, analysis or accounting, but the “soft skills”, he said.
Dr. SP Singh, president GKEC and former Vice Chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, welcomed the eminent guests and participants. He said that in Global businesses, it is only the skills that will serve you well when one pitches for new businesses, negotiate deals, motivate diverse teams and prepare ourselves for visionary leadership.
While delivering the rationale of the webinar, Dr. Parvinder Singh, Head Department of Business Management, GGNIMT,discussed in details about the future of borderless world. He also stress upon that Ecosystem should be developed by the organizations to inculcate Cross Cultural Business Skills amongst its workers, management and leaders, that leads to Win Win Solutions in the Borderless World.
Sumeet Gupta, Director, Program Management, Tableau Software, Redmound, Washington, talked about how one can become a successful business leader and how one want to build your life ahead..He focused onEmpathy, Communication, Learning and Self-Assessment. He said, “bydeveloping your strengths and managing your weaknesses, any one can rule the world and become a successful leader”.
Gaganjot Singh, Director, Global Business Segment, Michelin, France,share deep insights about the Business Skills. He emphasized on three important skills required in for the success of any business i.e. Collaborative Skills, Critical Thinking and Curated Strengths of the business. He also touched upon the relevance and importance of communication one should make complex things into simple.
While explaining the significance of Borderless World, Dr. Harpreet Singh, principal GGNIMT said that the business world is expanding beyond boundaries and companies are hunting human resources for their business in different countries. The work places are diverse, the communication is cross cultural, interpersonal influences are dynamic; the thought processes are changing with respect to socio-economic diversities. For any business school it will be impossible to make budding professionals employable until we inculcate the business skills which are useful across the borders.
