Mohali, June 30, 2018 (Team Online News India): Woman Police Stations established by Punjab Govt. are proving very beneficial for resolution of domestic disputes. This year till the end of June 340 cases have been disposed off, through Woman Police Station/woman cell in district SAS Nagar. Elaborating this, Counselor Woman Cell Inspector Jaismeen Kaur said that Woman Police Station/woman cell at third floor of District Administrative Complex, SAS Nagar is being run as per directions of SSP Kuldeep Singh and give preference to resolve woman domestic disputes relating to subdivisions Mohali, Kharar and Dera Bassi falling under their jurisdiction by giving choice to both the parties to settle the matter by mutual consent and counseling after hearing both the parties. Such Police Stations are proving very helpful for connecting the ties among families.
Inspector said that this year till the end of june 340 cases have been disposed off, which included 67 cases in which decision was taken for divorce and in 86 cases parties have decided to live together and 10 cases were recommended for filing a suit. Besides this, 177 cases were closed after mutual consents of both the parties.
She said that last year (2017) total 1077 applications were received, including 239 pending applications of the year 2016. Out of which 915 cases have been resolved, which includes resolution to 143 cases of divorce and for 224 cases decision to remain together was given and 55 cases were recommended for filing a suit. Besides this, 493 cases were closed after mutual consents of both the parties and 162 cases were pending. She further said 789 different types of cases were resolved in 2016. She said that various domestic disputed relating to women are being resolved with complete transparency at these police stations and counseling of both the parties is being done by Woman Cell, which helps in resolving the conflicts and help them to start their life with a broader mind set. Such resolution saves time and money of family members.
